MISSION STATEMENT
My goal as a music educator is to provide a fertile learning environment
in which students of all levels can easily advance to higher levels
of musical creativity. Since every human being is unique, my teaching
methods are highly individualized. The student’s advancement is
accomplished through listening, the discussion of problems and their
solutions, musical exercises, and the study of quality literature on
the instrument.

HONORS
I performed with John Mohead at CityJazz in Orlando, Florida at Universal
Studios CityWalk. Home of the Down Beat Jazz Hall of Fame, CityJazz
was acoustically inspired by the Thelonius Monk Institute of Jazz and
features only the world's top blues and jazz artists. In December 1999,
Mississippi ETV traveled to Orlando with Mohead filming for a special
presentatiopn which appeared on the program MISSISSIPPI ROADS in February
of 2000. The band was invited to perform three concerts at CityJazz
as a result of the national and international airplay Mohead's third
recording, FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES, was receiving. The CD was produced
by and features former Allman Brother Johnny Neel. Mohead has opened
for Bob Dylan, Tower of Power, Hank Williams, Jr. and others and his
music has been recently featured on "The Young and The Restless."
The newest Mohead release RURAL ELECTRIC is currently receiving nationwide
airplay and positive press reviews, and the band is touring in support
of it.
I have appeared on past as well as upcoming recordings by Shawn Lane,
John Mohead, and Doug Scarborough. The latest Mohead recording is receiving
significant airplay nationally as well as in Europe. I appeared on Shawn
Lane’s Warner Brothers debut POWERS OF TEN and his two REH instructional
videos. I also appeared on Doug Scarborough's recent release MOOD DU
JOUR and the recently released John Mohead recording entitled RURAL
ELECTRIC.
I worked extensively with Ed Townsend and the Gospel act SSIPP. Ed
produced the Marvin Gaye recording “What’s Going On.”
I was present during the recording, mixing, and mastering of Shawn
Lane’s recordings, which provided the opportunity to observe industry
giants such as Andy Johns, Bil Vorndick, Denny Purcell, and Randy Kling.
With John Mohead I toured Morocco, performing in Tangier, Casablanca,
Khouribga, and the American Embassy in the capital city of Rabat. A
performance at the Mohammed V National Theater was nationally televised
there. This opportunity came about as a result of the band's performance
on the VH-1 stage at the Memphis in May International Music Festival
in 1998. The tour of Morocco also included a cultural exchange program
which allowed the John Mohead Band to perform with some of the top musicians
from Morocco.
I appeared on the Mississippi ETV program MISSISSIPPI ROADS while performing
with singer/songwriter John Mohead. I also appeared on MISSISSIPPI ROADS
in November of 2000 as an interviewer and music consultant in a program
featuring the recording scene in Mississippi. The show featured clips
of me performing improvised passages on the double bass as well as interviewing
various music producers at recording studios around the state.
I provided music for a Christmas Special on the ETV program MISSISSIPPI
OUTDOORS in December 2000.
